Please recommend.

Thanks!

What do you mean? I thought that was a term used to describe someone who cares a lot about the influence of technical equipment-related stuff on sound quality. Cat Power is beautiful. =) Emily Haines (Broken Social Scene, Metric etc). The girl from Bat for Lashes has a great voice. Karen O. Amanda Palmer from Dresden Dolls.

I'll go ahead and be the first to say Alison Krauss.

When I went to demo speakers a week or two ago, one shop brought out this disc. (While I brought a nice array of 5 or 6 discs, Female Vocal was the one thing I had forgotten). The reviews on Amazon may be low because it's not typical Krall, but the CD itself is stunning. Every detail is captured, and the mastering and soundstage are unreal.

Tori Amos
Imogen Heap

At least, thats what im listening to at the moment. I keep meaning to put more effort into researching around female vocalists, i may well look a few of these up myself.

Quick question: How do you lot usually sample music before you buy it? The Amazon clips are terrible!
