I tried to follow this thread

But 1) Foobar won't "stick" the 24 w/32 pad setting. Everytime I go back to it after closing out preferences it is blanked out. and 2) every time I create the new 192 +4 DSP session I end up getting prompted to create a new DSP session at the (foobar) "requested" 96 rate.

It's normal that 24bit padded to 32bit remains blank after you go back to the preferences. It's not a standard setting ieie 16bit 24bit 32bit. those will stick. no worries.

You created a 192khz session but your resampling in foobar is set to 96khz. They have to match.

I prefer no upsampling. Try it also without.

Using analog outs to Headroom Little + 580s and 325s, BTW.

Foobar only goes up to 96 on my resampling. Are you saying set Foobar back to 48, and then to set EMU's DSP to... what kinda profile?

So you're saying then that the 24/32 thing is really there, i just can't see it... or do i have to set it every time i bring up preferences?

Also, in 44/48 "product default" mode (DSP, now) stuff sounds "fuzzy" in games, like UT2004.

EDIT: Scratch that... everything sounds like ass in 44/48 mode. More assy than a Fortissimo III by far... prolly more like ass than a $10 CD player.

UGH... how anticlimactic this is turning out :/

Well, a reread and a restart made the settings from the other thread work fine (had to manually input the 192).

Still sounds distorted, bad, though.

The 24/32 padded thing is there and works but you just don't see it.

Have you tried -10db instead of +4? +4 could be too "hot" for your amp.

The -10 think took out the distortion.

Honestly, I went out last night (Better Than Ezra played at a local thing called "Uptown Mix" which is like a 20's & 30's weekly music thing near Vanderbilt) and got drunk. I only got to listen to a song or two before I got drunk, and this morning I was too hungover.

I look forward to spending most of the evening playing with sampling and other settings, and listening to my 580s and 325s for at least an hour each.

I had a feeling, in my haze, that it sounded a little "flat". Though, I did listen to Holly Cole's "I Can See Clearly Now, the Rain Is Gone" this morning on the 580s and was struck by the accuracy and clarity in her voice.

You can also use the +4 setting and use a trim pot (Insert trim pot to output strip and then place it at the top of the strip. Once you've done this, trim the signal until you aren't getting clipping.)to lower the output level. The +4 path is supposed to be a bit better... anyway, try it, see what you think.

That didn't work either. Really, everything has been crap. However, basically, I created a New ASIO Direct Monitoring session and deleted all the strips but the ASIO, then I gave it a send. This is the only config that doesn't distort at moderate or louder volumes.

Here is the one suggested in the other thread I've done -10, +4, etc... always sounds bad.

This sounds far better. Am I missing anything with this setup, or if it sounds clear, is this what it is supposed to sound like?
