After doing quite a bit of research I found this link which has allowed me to come up with calculations I need to build a notch filter to EQ the treble out of my Grados: http://www.mh-audio.nl/parallelnotchfilter.asp
The notch filter will be a very wide 5 decibel scoop centered at around 7300 Hz which simultaneously takes care of the gradually increasing peaks my modded Grados have at 2, 4 and 7.3 kHz (the last being an ear canal resonance), respectively.
Pic related, it's about what the notch filter's frequency response should look like:
I have come up with the following values for a parallel notch filter (one for each channel):
25 Ω resistor
.39 μF capacitor
1.2 mH inductor
I want to make an inline notch filter. I believe I will need 2 of each of the above parts PLUS:
- A circuit board
- Two female headphone jacks
- Some sort of enclosure for the filter
Where do I order all this stuff?
Are there specific types of resistors, capacitors and inductors I want?
Thanks for any and all help.
