Hi guys! I'm new to this forum and this is my first post.

I am stuck between these:

Astro Gaming A40
Beyerdynamic DT 990 Pro (250 Ohm)
Sennheiser PC 360 G4ME
Sennheiser HD598

I'll use it mostly for gaming, sometimes movies and music. I don't have a headphone amp but my motherboard (Asus Maximus V Formula) can drive up to 300 ohm headphones. (That's what the specs say.)

Thanks! :) Sorry I'm kind of a newbie.

Btw admins please remove my other thread in the headphones section of the forum. Thanks.

  Heya,

Sony MA900 if you want an open air headphone with a big sound stage for positioning.
Beyer DT770 PRO 80ohm if you want a closed back headphone for isolation.

Add mic to taste if needed.

Very best,

Thanks for the reply! The MA900 isn't available in my country and I don't want a closed back headphone. I prefer open designs. Btw sorry I forgot to mention that.

Can you please tell me which would be the best for my needs between the ones I mentioned? Thanks. :)

I was leaning towards the 598's but I found out they were made in China... I thought they were made in Germany so that disappointed me a bit. :frowning2:

I believe a lot of headphones are made in China.
I would assume it's a lot more rare to find headphones that are not made in Asia.
The DT990s would seem to me to be the preferred choice, but if the HD558s are available of a low price.

Thanks for the reply. I believe the DT990's are made in Germany, right? There is a 100$ of difference between the DT880's and DT990's in my country. Is it worth to pay the extra for the DT880? How does the HD598's compare to these? Thank you so much.

Where are you located?

Might as well just get the DT990s, they are full bass & full treble, which slightly overshadows the mids, but the mids are clear.
DT880s are more balanced, but I guess you could say the DT990s have a more "Fiesta" (party) like sound.

The HD598 would have a slightly more "boring" sound, but still nice.
Would have the least amount of bass compared to the Beyers.
The 50-Ohm HD598 can work fine without an amplifier (but does improve with an amplifier).

Thanks for the reply. I live in Turkey.

HD598's are 300 dollars here.
DT990's are 270 and DT880's are 390.

Can you tell me the one you would choose between these and why? I will mostly use it for gaming but sometimes for movies and music. My motherboard has a 300 Ohm headphone amp built-in.

Btw any ideas about the DT770's?

Thanks.

Can I use the DT990 Pro 250 ohm's with an iPhone or an iPad too? Will I be able to get enough sound out of them?

I would not think to get a 250-Ohm headphones for use with a phone or iPad.

Thanks for the reply. So HD598 would be a better choice for me to use both on PC and phones?

HD598 would be better for use with the phone and should work fine with the motherboard
But the HD598 comes with a 1/4" plug, it also comes with a 1/4" female to 1/8" male adapter.
But people do not like using the adapter with portable devices, it is better to spend $16-$19 (on eBay) for a replacement cable that comes with a 1/8" jack as standard.

Or if you wanted to get the DT990 Pro 250-Ohm, you could spend $63 for a FiiO E11 portable headphone amplifier.
