Hi! I'm new here.

So I'm here for my in ear headphone. I use it only for outside.
Well its a JVC FX3X. Suddenly in class today, one of my friend pulled the headphones from my ear and from then I can't hear anything. Then I discovered that jack in pretty loose. Then I saw that

So it seems like the 3.5mm jack is the problem, right? I didn't saw any looseness or anything in the other parts. So I think if I can change the 3.5mm jack I can fix my headphone?

So I was just asking how do I do it and will I be hearing the same sound quality if I change the jack?

(P.S: I found some tuto in the youtube and other blogs, but not of any JVC headphones, so the method is the same or I've to do something more?)

So please help me fixing my favorite headphone. :frowning2: Thanks! :)

You can simply solder a new jack on and it should be fine.

The important thing is whether the wires are broken - looks like you should be able to see as the plasic is clear.  If there is a broken wire there then yes, you just just need to replace the jack which is the same as any other make.

If they were pulled from the ear end though it seems more likely that the damage would be in the bud, which you aren't going to be able to fix.  Did your player move when he pulled them?

Yes he did moved.

Thanks for the tip! I bought a new jack cause I didn't wanted to fix that existing jack cause I'm new at this work. :p Then I tried soldering and luckily I succeed. :D
here take a look: http://i.imgur.com/5krNjRf.jpg

It kinda looks bad, but atleast it works. :D

But I'm kind of worried about the wires, can I add something to it to make this more stronger?

Nice job dude. You could get 4 wires and braid them and do an entire recable.

Nice job.
RatShack TRS connectors are pretty flimsly because of the plastic shell. You could put the Gorilla Glue to the connector and then screw on the shell. That would fill the insides with epoxy and stiffen it up some. You would not be able to take it apart down the road but you can easily lop the end off and re plug with a better TRS Jack.

Check out lunashops.com and search for 3.5mm Jack's, many to choose from and cheap too. Only problem is it takes about a month to get them in the mail...

So this jack it called RatShack TRS :D

Okay, I Was also thinkin about glue or Hot glue. I'll do that today! I haven't even touched that headphone yet. :p

I visited lunashops, but I can't find the right one :frowning2: I'm no expert.

Are we talking about these? http://www.lunashops.com/goods.php?id=2996 or http://www.lunashops.com/goods.php?id=2669

No it is actually called a 3.5mm Male TRS Plug, I just used the slang name of the store that sells them here.
Radio Shack (RatShack) sells them for way more than they are worth, the shells are really soft plastic and don't last to long or stay tight... :)

The first link of those two connectors you chose are perfect, the Oyaide one is really a nicely made jack but the opening in the back is really big (6mm)

One like this is probably better for the cable you have it's only 4.3mm

Or these ones here are very nice and expensive, you would want the smaller diameter one.

Hot glue would probably be too hard to put around the wires and then get the shell on cleanly in my opinion.
The reason I mentioned the Gorilla Glue is that it expands to fill the spaces as it sets and when cured it's solid.

This is Head-Fi, I seen $300 cables on $35 Porta Pro's...
It's all about the options...

That is why I said one like this is probably better...

$3 and you just order it.

And the Ranko Acoustics is nice and small too for $4

The plug looks pretty well built, but it might not fit through something like a case for a phone. I've used those plugs before and they held up really nicely.

Those Sennheiser plugs and there is one with Belkin stenciled on it, look really thin. I'll have to check out a few of them for sure.
