Hi there, I have Ubuntu 10.04 installed with a USB to spdif converter to carry the sound to my AV amp.  I keep getting sound dropouts/interruptions all the time.  This is driving me nuts as I tried to find a solution via Google, but have come up with nothing so far.

Am I missing something simple or should I forget USB sound on Linux & go back to Windows 7?

I have set USB audio as the default but can't see what else to do.

Which music player are you using?
Are you using PulseAudio or ALSA?

I've tried both, using different players, VLC for movies too - sound drops out.  I know pulseaudio is default in ubuntu, tried kubuntu where there is no pulseaudio, still has same problem.

I'm using one of these I got off ebay:

HA INFO NG COAX USB to SPDIF/COAX Converter

It works flawlessly under Windows.

I ran lsusb and got this output:  Highlighted in Red is the device recognised as the USB converter.
