Hi everyone,
I have several DACs and pre amp.I am curious if the source players , e.g. mac , pc or iphone make different sound quality when they are connected to a specific external dac ? I mean, when we play a specific audio file by different players which are connected to the same dac , do the make the same sound quality , or not?

Short answer: Yes, no, and it depends.
-Yes: the "bits" going into your DAC will be the same, so the sound output from your speakers/headphones will be the same.
- No: the different players may handle the bits differently. As one example, I used Audivarna as a music player on my laptop. Playing Tidal through Audivarna avoids some of the processing my laptop would normally use, and to me it sounds better than playing Tidal through its own app.
- It depends: the amount of difference will be small. Small differences can be small enough that we don't notice; or not worth worrying about. In other cases, small differences can be significant, and worth pursuing. It depends on the person...
