Hi all,

Unless I'm missing something, the following is the only headphone I've seen that is planar magnetic and has ANC:

https://ausounds.com/pages/au-x-anc-pre-order

But it's been on pre-order for at least a year, if not longer! (Plus, it's not a "well-known" brand, to me.)

And then, B&H say it's discontinued!? Was it ever released widely?

Is there a reason why there aren't more ANC planar headphones? Too expensive? Too much of a degradation in sound quality?

Thanks!

It's likely because of battery life. There's stuff like the Hifiman he400se which don't need much power, but closed back might not sound as good also. The Sundara closed back got some pretty bad reviews.
The closest I've gotten to it is the Hyperx Cloud Orbit which uses Audeze drivers and a Shure mic which is removable. It's got memory foam pads which seal like suction cups and does a great job of sealing out sound. On ebay you can find them for around $125 and they use a USB cable to power them. The onboard amp and dac sound pretty good with the flat EQ profile built into them. You don't need software, all the controls are on the side.
