Purchased unit from Amazon.jp about 6 months ago and, until recently, have been really impressed with its performance (battery life excluded). Unfortunately, problem has recently developed with usb port, which, with repeated use, appears to have recessed within device to the point where I can't get a working connection with micro usb cable. This has obvious implications for both charging the device and effecting transfer of music files! Although unit is still under warranty, am reluctant to return device to Amazon.jp as I live in Australia (Melbourne).
My initial thoughts were to approach a mobile phone repairer as the construction principles are common to both types of devices ie. a competent repairer could presumablly remove the glass face cover and either replace or repair the usb port?

I'm wondering if anyone has encountered similar problems (either with a Pioneer dap or any other dap) and has found a workable solution?

The balanced jack is definitely a weak pijt of the DAP. First I've heard of the USB port but it doesn't surprise me in the slightest. Send that thing in for warranty repair my dude. You don't want your 300R to be the first one some dude in a cell phone repair shop ever opens up, and it most undoubtedly would be the first one he's ever opened. A dude opened his up and shared his experience in the 300R thread and it was a pain in the ass for sure.

Sage advice Cory - which has led me to make contact with Amazon.jp who were more understanding than I imagined and have outlined the return/refund process. Thanks again for your thoughts. Now the search for an alternative begins!!!
