I have a Pioneer sx-780 receiver and am wondering if the amp that powers the headphone jack is powerful enough for a headphone like the dt990.
Right now all I have are ath-m50s and am looking at getting an open set of headphones as well.
The receiver makes the m50s sound a ton better than just straight from a computer but I know they aren't as hard to drive either.
Any advice on this would be helpful, thanks.

The SX-780 should do a fine job driving the DT990 phones.
 
I've been using a SX-880 and a Pioneer SA-8800 integrated amp to drive my 600-ohm DT880 headphones, and they both sound excellent.
