I remember when Pioneer has a very firm respect (in DJ world) for made one of the toughest cans ever produced, but I don't remember the model's name. It suppose that SE-M10R is its substitute, and the older model looked the same (so-so) but in black fashion. And the original model gains very respectful for being very indestructible so the DJ fans love it. And that model was designed -I'm sorry I read it some time ago- by the home audio division, not for the DJ division who produced poor SQ cans. I don't hear any of these, so it's only about reading boards across the net. But I am also interested if somebody share information about them (both a1000 and m10r). Very interested.
EDIT: Pioneer has a ProDJ division but it looks like DJ fans prefer some of their home products! Well, maybe it's not the best recomendation for their SQ, but they (DJs) has very high praise about construction and sometimes this is very, very important (if you have an horde of teenagers inside home trying to play with console at late in the night... I have!)
I have a pair of the SE A1000's. For $70.00 they're a steal. They're very comfortable and easy to drive out of a portable. They're also very large and have an insanely long cord. I'd say the compare favorably to my 595's unamped.
