Im considering building a PIMETA with Tangent's guide, will this amp good enough to push Sennheiser 580 at it's best? What are the best choices within the price range? Thanks in advance!

headsave classic with the AD8620/10 opamps i hear is a superb choice with the 580s.

Both the pimeta and the mint use the 8620/10 opamp and the 634 buffer. The pimeta is more expandable and tweekable, and the mint is noticably less expensive and much more portable. Either should work fine, depending on your preference.

Pimeta is fine. That is, unless you like tube sound . . .

The pimeta gets along quite well with the Senn 580, IMO it's the best amp for the 580's in its price range. I've heard the pimeta & PPA at a meet and the differences between the 2 are remarkably small.

You sure about that? Both JMT and MisterX make portable Pimetas w/8620 op-amps in small plastic enclosures. They are very portable...

Hmmm...interesting. I wonder if the difference between the two grows larger with different (higher end?) cans...
