Pimeta C2 voltage rating = 1/2 supply voltage?

In the PPA the power caps go from V- to V+, so it makes sense that they'd need to be rated for the supply voltage. But in the pimeta, the caps go from V- to ground, and V+ to ground...so couldn't you safely run caps rated for 1/2 the supply voltage? Of course, if your TLE failed, you'd get pyrotechnics, but otherwise, it'd work?

Just want to be sure...

It's one of those things where going with the split voltage max probably won't be a problem in a well-built amp, but you're right -- if there's ever a reason for the TLE to fail, or anything shorts the ground in the right way, there's trouble. If you're looking to save money, I would personally sacrifice a little bit in sound quality before I sacrificed that much in component safety.

I did some thinking on this back in the early META42 days, and I came up with several ways for the vground to collapse.

So, are you feeling lucky, punk?
