Unfortunately, my Zen has finally succumbed to the infamous headphone jack failure. I've picked up an IRiver 795 to get me by until I either try and fix the darn thing or decide what I shall replace it with.

Sad thing is, it otherwise was perfect. The case it came with sucked goat pee but the Zen was bestest.

Creative's headphone jack supplier should be shot in the face.

Very Cool!!!

It is indeed an MZ-1! It isn't in such a good condition, so I'm looking for a better/mint one (but don't know yet if I'm willing to put a lot of money into this)...

As promised, here's my own little portable rig which I'm currently enjoying.

Also, a little offtopic, but should I be putting my iRiver on full volume whilst using the amp? Just worried it'll drain the battery faster than usual. Will I hear any difference if I set my iRiver at 50% and turn the amp volume up?

sorry, but i dont get the point at all of these portable rigs with amps. it totally takes away appearance and portability, and all it does is makes the sound a bit better. no offense, its just my opinion.

Is this opinion based on experience? Have you tried using a portable amp?

To some extent I agree with you... that is why I went with a portable DAC & amp.
