I firmly second both the Sony MDR-V6/7506 (by itself) or Beyer DT770 Pro (with an amp). Both are very good.
BTW, I should add, that the original poster requested the ability to "pick out" basslines -- this isn't the same thing as bass extension. In fact, most of the bass information is not in the bass (in a highly articulated bass). So a slight hump in the midbass would be a good thing, but just imaging and an overall fast and tight response should be the criteria. And yes, you do want full frequency response, also.
So actually, something like the Grado HP-1 should work well, also. But that's getting well outside your price budget.
