. DT880, followed by K501. The latter has less bass. IMO the DT880 is quite neutral in the bass and really isn't an anti-basshead can, but to my ears it's a major improvement on the K501 for most musical genres, and worth it for that alone.

P.S. I also agree with Garrett re: the HD280 Pro (my biggest headphone disappointment), but want to assure the euphonics-first crowd that's what "neutrality" sounds like only on the low end. Good headphones can be both relatively flat/neutral and very musical... the HD280s are not good headphones (IMO).



DT880s are undoubtedly superior and I hope one day to hear them, but at more than $100 less, the K501s would seem to be just the ticket. Especially given the musical tastes.

Seriously, I *love* these cans.

Everything I've read suggest that you at least try the K501. Since the price just dropped drastically I'd say that's the one you should try. TTVJ offers a $10 discount just for starting a new account, I recommend heading on over there (ttvj.com) and picking up a K501.
