Ok i know the title might sound misleading....but what gear do u think is best suited for different genres of music?

Well, since i dont own a particularly diverse set of head/earphones, ill list what i think is best first. I usually listen to rock/metal and i think my Px-200s go fine with them ( bass! bass! ), and when i feel like chilling my E2cs come in real handy for jazz-y stuff......

So what headgear do u guys think is best suited for a particular genre?

****! You CD3000's owners keep tempting me. Personally, I don't like particularly like Sony, having had bad experiences with Sony products, so i would prefer anything but Sony.

How are CD3000's for hip-hop? I guess I would need a decent amp like a Perreux?

For vocal/easy listening, I vote for Senn HD650 (HD600/HD580). Diana Krall just sounds so relaxing with Senns.

For classical (especially violins), CD3K is awesome. Version 0.5 of Perreux is nice (most V0.3 hums w/ CD3K) or Corda amps are nice too.

HD580s for classical, or for optimum world-class sound with Behringer DEQ2496 digital equalizer in the loop.

Grado SR60s for rock, pop, jazz, and not too bad for classical either.

CD780s to split the difference... just relaxing, long-term comfort and well-judged all-purpose fidelity.

Personally, I've always believed in getting headphones that works with every genre, and not just a specific genre in particular. I don't have any genre-specific headphone right now (although I'm in process of getting another pair of HD580, I just miss it for some strange reason)... but here's what I've gone through...

All-around headphones:
A500
A900
HD650 (with some reluctance, and only after Zu Mobius cable upgrade)
CD3000
Shure E5c
ProPhonic 2X-S

Classical/jazz:
HD580
HD600
HD650

Rock:
Grado SR-225
Grado RS-1

Analytical listening:
Ety ER-4
Grado HP-1

Pop:
Shure E3c
