And there you have it. Order away.

Cool. Thanks all! I'm not sure what it means I'm being "female" about this, but I'll keep the order in! I really can't wait! I got my pair of ER6i pretty much for free (after bought 6 and resold 4 of them) but haven't found them very comfortable; anyways, this is way more than I've ever spent on headphones! Buying this is like going to see a summer blockbuster that you can't believe the hype about it, but you still go anyways hoping its anywhere near as good as you've heard. I can't wait!

"Being female" = nitpicky, pointless drama, expecting everything to be perfect 100% of the time, taking yer ball and going home when it's not. (and IMackler, I'm not talking particularly about you; this is in general) I would add "bugging the crap out of customer reps as to the shipping time" to that list, but hey, I think most of us do that.

Just order and enjoy. If it t'ain't right, send it back and get one that is. Easy.

Woof, my man (assuming you are male), maybe "whiny" would have been a better choice than female. Just sayin' You may get some push back on using the term that way. But I'm sure you meant it with all due respect. LOL.

Re: QC issues
From the 5 PFE units bought by some other guys I know of, none of them were DOA or have any physical issues (yet?).

Funny, that description applies to 90% of the guys on here...

"Being MALE = nitpicky, pointless drama, expecting everything to be perfect 100% of the time.

EDIT: And sobbing into his pyjamas when his football team loses, or taking to bed for a fortnight with 'flu'... after a single sneeze...

I wouldn't worry about it. Of all that were purchased by people on headfi, the number of defective is still low. The odds are you'll get them, and they will work.

If not, then you just have to wait a pretty short time for the replacement pair.

You won't find this kind of sound at this price, so it still seems worth it to me.

Just finished listening to some tracks with the T4 and the PFEs, via the Clip (silicone tips, black filters) and yes, I agree that it's a nice change from the IE8s and W3s (both excellent), with the focus on crisp mids and highs, with just the right amount of accurate bass. I used the bass boost on the T4, and also a very little bass EQ nudge on the Clip, and they sound fantastic. I realize that the PFEs aren't universally loved, but with the right setup/settings, they perform way above their price.

Now that your IE8 have burned in, have you posted a PFE vs. IE8 comparison anywhere? I did a quick search but couldn't find it. I'm interested in your opinions of amped PFEs versus unamped IE8s.

Haven't had time, but I will do some sort of comparison and let you know via PM. Just in casual listening, I'd say the IE8s deliver superior soundstage and more powerful bass impact, but no surprise there. However, under optimum conditions (amp, black filters, etc.), the PFEs still do something the IE8s don't (for me) when it comes to mid/treble detail. My short answer is I use the IE8s much more, since no amp is required, and really enjoy them. But when I want to listen to acoustic music, female vocals (jazz, folk, etc.) and I am at home, I still reach for the PFEs. Oh, the IE8s are only at about 200 hours, too. Not the magic 250 hour mark.

I have to agree... Having owned the PFE's, they product a better extension / detail of the high frequencies (compared to the IE8). Thus, vocals tend to shine a bit more on the PFE's

The Sennheiser IE8s strength is their warmth, lowers and soundstage. My IE8's have about 180 burn-in at this point. I am hoping the highs open up a little in the next 100 hours. I doubt it though.

Just ventured into my first Ear Bud, the Yuin OK2. Ordered them this morning from Head Direct. I am curious about trying a quality Ear Bud (as compared to the junk what comes with most DAPS)

This post may irrelevant as I have little knowledge of how IEMs work, although I have tried. My PFEs sound great, but there seems to be something missing from the left monitor. I understand that what I am hearing could just be how headphones in general work and that I think of this as a problem only because I'm not used to the new sound.

The vocals in particular seem to be a lot stronger on the right. Can anyone explain this for me? I know that the left and right monitors are designed to produce different sounds in a recording and that many recordings are created for such playback. However is what I'm hearing normal? Could it be my ears, or am I just not getting a good enough seal? I very much doubt the filters could be a cause as I only just got the PFEs and I also doubt the IEMs are damaged.

If its any use, some of the music where this seems pronounced is Violet Hill and Strawberry by Coldplay and Unknown Caller by U2, both at 320 kbps mp3.

Sorry about the mass of questions.

You could try to convert/reencode the mp3 in mono, to rule out the original mix.
You could also try to switch the phones from your ears to rule out diference phones/ear/source.
It could also be from the source...remember to try another source.
Maybe you have a seal in only one ear, try bigger plugs.
could be the filters, if you change them, dont touch them with your fingers, I think skin oil can block the filters.

Maybe phone drives are not volume matched, but that would shift the image/stage to the left or right...is the voice centered?
