Hello everybody!
New member here, although I've ended up reading topics quite a few times. Recently I had the oportunity of briefly testing a pair of red Philips "DJ" headphones (probably the SHL3100 model) against my Superlux 668B. I expected to prefer my 668B's but things went the other way, I actually found the sound of the Philips nicer due to a marked and increased airiness and fullness in the mids.
 
Can somebody explain this to me? I'm a bit confused as I see The 668B are well regarded and recommended by many. Is it that the 668B are neutral, more adecuate to monitoring, and the Philips colored? Things is the Phillips were more enjoyable to me and I've started to get interested in their low-budget headphones... and this led me to find the thread here on the SHL3300s!, which raises the question: Are the SHL3300 similar sounding to the SHL3100? Will I find in them that contrasting character I found when comparing the 668Bs with the SHL3100s?

I have the shl3300 and really like them for the natural sound signature and sub bass, actually similar to the Philips X1's but with more sub bass!
 
The 3300's can only be better than the 3100, probably a wider soundstage due to thicker cushions and they share the same drivers.
