DT770 pro 80 are the best i dont think that SHP8900 would be as good as them. I have not heard them but then again they cant be as good as my SR60's and i am quite sure the DT770 pro 80 are better than my SR60's in terms of overall sound stage and quality

Well,I can't comment on grado ,but like DT770 pro has recessed mids and boomy bass .I wanted to know is it same for SHP8900?

or SHP8900 are more forward in comparison to DT770 pro ?

Typically i have found Philips high end headphones lacking in terms of bass and bright on treble with a good flow of mids and an acceptable sound stage.

I think the SHP8900 has a better sound stage than most philips headphones but it would not compare to DT770 pro overall they are still the best among these two.

Which Philips cans have you actually heard and on what equipment?
No lack of bass with my HP890, for sure. The treble of the 890 also differs from the treble of the 910, so they aren't all the same.

i have had the philips hp910-same specs as the 8900. i have also had the dt770. the770 has more bass-but not a lot more. the philips had it beat in overall sound quality to me. however build quality was suspect!

My experience was based on Hp1000's.

It were a bit bright on trebles and low on bass. Other than that they were very good overall the sound quality was great that is till i sat on them and broke them to pieces "The god damm things were tooo fragile".

But i would like to emphasis that if you have a bass happy amp the Philips can's work very very good and are mostly better than any sennheisers at the given price range.

Also i meant that the DT770 pro were the best from the OP's list. Anyways my personal choice as the best headphones would be the GS1000 ohhhh my god those are dreamy, my SR60's are crap in front of them...!!
