Hi guys.

I have my HP890 since 2002.

I always thought they were great.

After so many years they broke like 100 times. Glued, taped, again glued. Again glued.

They look freinkensteinish.

Clamp on the head is so weak.

In meantime I recabled them. Nice difference. Really nice upgrade.

Then I wanted to try something new...  i bought AKG K701. I liked them a bit. But nah. Sound was on the boring side, thin in comparison with nice sound positioning.
I bought best Sen wireless on the market - nice try but omg no.

I bought AKG 550. Nah.

I bought DT990 PRO 250OHM... omg no.

So what is going on!! Why these cans play so good?

The texture on the instruments, huuuge soundstage, ultra hiper comfy, they are so fun. Sound is so involving. Last night i really tired to justify buying 990pro. But they are so bad on the midrande vs HP890. Yes they are flat, the sound is pure. But lifeless.
This happens everytime I try. Yes - HP890 are not a masterclass in details, seperation. But they make chills on my skin. I listen and i love it.

Please can you give me any expample of a headphone with such a lively, lovely, involving sound??
I can go up to 400$.

I would like them to be really big cans.

My amp is FIOO E10K.

thnx for reply.

ps. i just bought 890 and 840 in very good condition . But still I want something new.

How about a used pair of HD700s? Seem like they would fit the bill
