Philips Fidelio X2 vs Shure SRH1540... Anyone compared them?

Yeah I'm not listening to much music lately but when I do I use the default stereo or Dolby Access (songs sounds very close to the original stereo version with Dolby Access). I'm pretty much using surround for everything. But I don't think that Dolby is working at full potential with regular mp3 files, just like when you use it to games not designed to use Dolby, it work, but not at full potential.

I hope that with a G6 card we can have a even better surround (SBX or Dolby), and system-wide.

With HeSuVi I use "dtshx-" or "oal_dflt". They sound more "neutral/natural" than the other ones (but they still change the tone a lot). The only difference that I hear is that dtshx- is louder.

The games don't have to be designed for it, but if you want more accurate positioning for games and movies, you should switch to 5.1 or 7.1 and dolby access should downmix it to stereo surround but now the added channels will translate in better overall surround experience.

I have it enabled system-wide and its been a blast.

How did you activated Dolby Access system-wide? It doesn't work with YouTube videos. Looks like Edge has support for Dolby but I guess not this type of emulation.

I think the content has to be recorded in surround, otherwise Dolby Access can't manipulate it. Funny is how HeSuVi can bypass all that. That's why I was mentioning that I hope G6's SBX or even 5.1 and 7.1 Dolby Atmos can work system-wide, like HeSuVi.

I've tried the integrated DT:S headphones:X in Elite Dangerous (only game i have that offers its own virtualization), it is way inferior to the virtualization offered by Dolby Headphone, so i wouldn't assume that any code in a game or any kind of integration would be superior.

It only has the benefit of being available whatever your hardware is.

I think you have to use the same tech that the game is using. If the game is only DTS compatible, if you use Dolby it'll work but will not be optimized. I have Borderlands 3 and I played it for a while (I uninstalled because my PC can't handle it properly, its about 5-7 years old now), and it has Dolby support, so you need to have at least Dolby Access to activate it in the game options. Or the DTS Sound Unbound (Windows 10 Store), which pretty much have the same supported games, and I think its a matter or personal preference.

You can find youtube videos recorded using the different virtualization technique to differentiate them and pick the one you like the most.
Listen to them in regular stereo mode.

Theres also the ones from HeSuVi, i tried them all, still since it didn't came close to my original dolby headphones i'm assuming its inferior to the real thing whatever tech you pick with that software.
