Looks like Philips is starting to "Blow 'n Go" in anticipation of the 795 & 963's release.

Featuring the latest in audio technology, the new Philips DVD795SA player provides consumers endless hours of playback of their favorite Super Audio CDs, DVD-Videos and Standard CDs. Featuring a 5-disc changer, the player is capable of playback of DVD-Video, DVD+RW, DVD+R, Super Audio CD, CD, CD-R, CD-RW, MP3-CD, VCD and S-VCD formats.
The player also features both 176kHz CD upsampling and Philips proprietary Real Surround™ system. The 176kHz CD up sampling improves the resolution and the Real Surround feature converts the sound from 2 channel to 5.1 channel surround. Together the features offer the ultimate multi-channel music experience.
Maintaining the strength in video that Philips is known for, the DVD795SA offers 3:2 pull-down progressive scan to produce high vertical resolution and razor sharp images. So, you'd really need to compare the specs of the 793 vs the 795 to see what kind of "deal" this is.
I'd say this is just "get while the gettin's good" by Philips & their distributors.
