Not recommended actually. The PK-1 will be rather a bit too bright with PengAmp. But I believe the PK-2 and PK-3 will fare better with PengAmp

I thought the Penguin Caffeine has Bass Boost function to compensate on the "brightness" that EFN described.

Penguin uses 9V, doesn't it? Should be sufficient, I don't see why not.

I have a PA2V2 (max output 200mW) and I'd like to know how well that powers the PK1.

From my short experience, the more power the pk-1 gets, the better it sounds.
