i've been seeing this Pengamp popping up on eBay lately and wondering how this thing compares with other amps out there. it looks, in packaging at least, like some of the cMoy amps but he states in his faq, fwiw:
Q: Is it a cMoy amplifier?
A: No, it is not the common cMoy circuit.
does this mean it's an uncommon cMoy variant?
there doesn't seem to be much info on the forum yet so let's see if we can some of the group's collective wisdom to shine in this corner.

to answer you question it is a cmoy, because it uses a opamp.

its is modified with huge capacitors 3300uf vs the normal 220uf - 500uf.
it should deliver better bass response, but 3300uf is overkill, other than that it looks like a well put together cmoy.

I have owned a pengamp for about a year. Buisness wise (when buying) the gentleman that made and shipped me the item was incredibly helpful and very knowledgable. It arrived extremely quickly and the sound.... OH MY! it's what you hope for you know? i get an amp and as it is being shipped you're thinking ' i bet it's loud but i bet it distorts; i bet its huge and wont fit in my pocket ' but this is not the case. u get what u can only dream of and more. it was on £40 and it is WELL WELL WELL worth getting. honestly...
