Anyone have back to back listening experience with these two units, do they sound the same?

Yes I own both and much like you can guess the difference is in the source. I would recommend saving the money and buying the cheaper model so that you can put that towards a better usb converter. BTW if you haven't purchased the little linear power supply branded Teradak for it, it's well worth the cost.
