Stereo USB1.1 DAC with line-out and S/PDIF output, Bus/Self-powered (I2S Interface) - PCM2706 - TI Product Folder
Sorry, I'm a bit of a newb in this department, but I'm wondering what the "next step up" from PCM2706 is and why it doesn't seem to be as ubiquitous as this chip. Is it because if you're moving up to these higher resolutions/sample rates different "transport" mechanisms (i.e., coax, optical) are better (in terms of what? jitter? etc? I don't really know how it all works..)?
edit: Was trying to decide if this would go better here or it might fit better under computer audio (due to the usb deal). Mod, please move if necessary. thanks
