I have a question- every time I see D90 display it says PCM-
I had my D90 for a few months- LOVE it. But I had a quick question regarding PCM when using my disc player- I always thought bitstream is what you want not PCM so why is this DAC set to PCM when using COAX- isnt that just resampling the crappy DAC in my DVD spinner? Thanks for any and all answers... I know PCM is uncompressed audio but isnt it being handled by the CD PLAYER and then resampled by D90 or am I crazy

PCM, uncompressed audio.
Bitstreaming is encoded (compressed) digital audio.
I believe audio stored on Blu-ray and DVD movie disks is encoded.
S/PDIF (optical & coaxial) can carry 2-channels of 24-bit/96K or 24/192K of PCM audio,
or up to 6-channels (5.1) of encoded (compressed) audio, that audio is limited to 24-bit/48K max.
Encoded audio needs to be changed (uncompressed) to PCM before the audio is sent to the DAC.
