I have this window that pops up when connected to the internet via dial up.
It says svchost.exe has generated errors and a log will be generated.
It also affects my MS word and excel programs when openning.
I'm using win2k pro.
anyone have any suggestions, it's very irritating.
thanks in advance.

I had this same thing happen, and it turned out to be a symptom of being infected by the msblaster virus. You can check this by seeing if 'msblast.exe' is listed as one of the running processes in your Task Manager.

If so, it's pretty easy to resolve using a free download from one of the antivirus software companies, and then following up by installing the necessary MS security upgrade(s) to prevent it from happening again.

I think I got it fixed.
I dl'ed the symantec blaster fix to find it.
then the SP 4 win2k update and patch
then the windows security update KB823980
