Hi,

I'm using the Music One which are very sensitive CIEMs (108 dB SPL @ 0.1 Vrms) with the Fiio Q1 DAC/Amp, and I hear a hiss that doesn't change with volume. Considering I almost never go over 3/10 volume using the low gain setting, I wondered if there was a way to attenuate the output without causing problems with the sound (specifically without increasing the "output impedance"). Is this possible?

Ideally this would be a volume pot, but I can settle for something like a constant -10 dB or something like that.

Thanks!

fixed attenuation is much easier than finding a POT/Rheostat that can handle the current

the high class solution would be a output step down transformer - good ones for full audio bandwidth are near $50 ea, probably need to ask Jensen, Cinemag for a custom winding

the extreme solution would be multi-tapped quality audio transformer - again the few off the self products aren't sized for driving headphones, audiophile TVC boxes with bling connectors, switching may run to $k
