Anyone use one of these? http://www.ebay.com/itm/190836562928

Seems to have more versatility than the Goldpoint units I looked at, and of course it's a lot cheaper.

I've seen them before, although they didn't seem to have a model with exactly what I was looking for. They could probably custom make one, but I'm sure it would cost a lot.

One thing I like about that China-special box is the "record" output, so I can bypass the volume knob and run a non-attenuated signal into my headphone amp. Then the volume knob will just be for my monitors.

Khozmo makes some pretty bitchin' attenuators in mono, stereo, balanced stereo, and six channel. Really sexy looking things in their own preamps if you don't want to do any soldering yourself.

For me the Axiom II was very transparent and the way it works it bypasses the volume control.
I used mine between a Job 225 amp and a CJ ET5 Preamp to lower the gain with great results. I ordered mine with Caddock resistors and an extra output, so I could run a sub as well off it.
You might be surprised with how good the Axiom works.
Some info here on the volume http://luminousaudio.com/axiom2/rca.html

Plus some good reviews on the net.

These also look good and can include a Remote but think they may cost a bit too.
