Hi.

I'm sure this has been asked before, but I couldn't trawl up any relevant threads with the search.

Is it OK to put external hard drives near to audio equipment, or is there some kind of detrimental interference between the two?

In my case, it's a Headroom MicroStack and a Western Digital My Book drive.

I'm 96% sure there shouldn't be a problem, shielding and all that. But electronics aren't my strong point, and paranoia is.

Thanks.

If you have the two, throw them together and see if you hear anything. If not, you're golden.

My problem with external hard drives is when the DAC is between the drives and the computer on the firewire bus. But, unless there's some electrical connection between the two, there shouldn't be a problem, but if you hear something then there are things you can do.
