I've compared the axiom m22tis directly to the paradigm studio 40s, and the paradigms are vastly better than the axioms, I've read many reviews, like the ones at audioholics (btw that review is about the studio 40 v2, the v3 are the ones I have listened too), and, that review scores the Studio 40s higher than the m22tis, I'd search for more reviews about the version 3s and definetly don't read the axiom forums, slightly biased there.
The axioms I find are too bright, lacking severely in bass, but with a very beautiful midrange. For the price, they are great speakers no doubt.
The Paradigm Studio series (20 thru 100) are better than the axiom series of speakers, IMHO, the only areas the axioms excel at is, midrange, and price. Also, I don't know of any places that stock axiom speakers, have to order online without an audition, if you can, order the m22tis, and get the studio 40s from a local dealer, and compare them both in your own house.
I would also not limit your speaker choices to Axiom or Paradigm, unless you have a specific budget, there are so many great bookshelves out there, take your time and try as many as you can.
