Since I got my Vibes back in January, my inner audiophile has been wanting a little more. I'm mostly stuck with 128 and 192 kbps MP3s and AACs on my iPod, and I'm definitely ready for more.
My upgrade plan is a trifecta; I'm planning to get a new sound card for my computer, a new set of headphones for gaming, music and VoIP, and to also build/buy an amp to push the whole setup a bit farther.
This thread is about the first of those three goals: What's a good desk-dwelling amp that I could buy, or potentially build to give my headphones a bit more kick to them? This amp would be stationary, seeing as I really wouldn't want to compromise and get a less powerful pocket amp that I wouldn't be terribly inclined to take with me at all. I'd prefer to keep the price under $100, but I'm open to basically any suggestion.

You should use apples lossless audio codec, or just switch to RockBox and FLAC all together. They sound so much better now on my iPod, and I am still using apples headphones.
