Hi, I've been looking to buy headphones for awhile now, but i stopped for a couple months. I'm familiar with the main brands, but I haven't looked at any new headphones that came out recently. I'm looking for some closed, over ear headphones under $250. I intend to wear them a lot away from home and without an amp so it'd be great if they sounded good without an amp. Back when I was about to buy a pair I looked at the audio technica m50 and at some ultrasones. I also looked at the v moda crossfade lp. Could someone give me some recommendations or any information on the headphones I mentioned? I'm not sure if they have become outdated.

They're not outdated. The best choice probably depends on your source and which genres you listen to.
