Hey,

I recently got a gaming PC that I am also using to listen to music on Tidal. I am currently using a pair of slightly modified ATH M40X (angled pads) and the sound is good but I was considering getting something better.
I have the Grado SR80E but find them too uncomfortable to use regularly.
I was considering the AKG 701 and 702.
I listen to a wide variety of music - prog-rock, alternative, metal, electronic music etc.
It doesn't matter if they aren't particularly portable or if they're open back, as I will be using them exclusively at the computer.

Budget - £100-150

Takstar HF 580 open headphones ($200 + tax/shipping).
Soundmagic HP 200 open headphones or HD151 closed headphones.

Thank you for the suggestions. I was also considering the DT770 or DT880. I see from your signature that you own them. Would you recommend them?

Soundmagic HP151 is like an improved DT770
Soundmagic HP200 is like an improved DT990.
DT880 is fairly balanced and slightly bright.

If you like the sound of the SR80e you're not going to like the K701 or even the K702, much less without something like a Gilmore Lite or Meier Symphony driving it. Even worse if your head is a little smaller and it fits too loosely on your head.

I have a love/hate relationship with the Grado. In the main, I like the sound but damn they can get uncomfortable!
I have managed to use them today without them getting uncomfortable though.

The DT880/880 are horrible for the genres you mentioned.

I ordered the HP151 from Amazon and should recieve them tomorrow. I was torn between them and the HP200, but I think the HP151 might suit me better.
I have had a lot of Soundmagic IEMs but have never tried their over-ear headphones.
