[Prog Rock Man]

My beloved AKG K271 cans are coming apart after a decade of solid use. I am looking for a replacement with some rather specific requirements -

1 - Closed backed, but can be open, mainly for use when home alone.
2 - Over ear, for same reason as above.
3 - Fabric, not leather or similar earpads, I find them more comfortable and wear glasses
4 - Cable out of left side only, as I sit at a laptop streaming music, with the amp on a cabinet to my left.

I listen to lots of prog rock, post rock and a bit of various other genres, so detail and clarity are the most important part of my listening. I don't need huge bass or wide sound stage.

Budget is £500ish. I want something that is a noticeable step up from the K271 cans. If that means spending some more, I can save a bit more.

Any recommendations appreciated.

Pbui44, the add-on ear pads open up the possibles immensely. I was replacing my AKG K702 pads every couple of years, but had not noticed there are universal pads.

A recommendation for the Neumann NDH 20 added. They are not the prettiest headphones, but I suppose that is not important.
