I was hoping a few knowledgeable folks could help me with my dilemma. My cd player output to RA-1 is just too loud to listen to for long periods. I've done a lot of searching and have decided that RCA attenuators, like the offerings from Harrison Labs, will be the best bet until I get a new source with volume control.
However, I've read that because of impedance mismatching, the attenuators degrade sound. With an XCD-88 CD player and an RA-1, what kind of attenuator should be made and with what values? I need about -15dB drop. I have a friend who is handy with the soldering iron, so links to schematics/calculators are also helpful.
Realized this might go better in the DIY perhaps. Well, any help is appreciated.
