I have a pair of DT990 (600ohms) headphones. What models from these lines would best suitable for them. It looks like the Little Dot MK IV gives off my Mw's for 300/600ohms phones (500Mw)...I'm assuming that model is made for higher impedance headphones

No? I'm looking to spend no more than $500. Woo-Audio has been recommend on several occasions...as has Ming Da. Ming Da seems to use transformers. What exactly is the difference between OTL and tube amps with transformers? What would push the DT990's better? Has anybody used the MC66-AE? Would it push 600ohms good for the price?

For 600 ohm phones my experience is that OTL is the way to go. You should consider building a Bijou with no feedback and 80uf oil output caps, its world class on 600 ohm phones.

Not all Woo is OTL (Output Transformer Less). Also, with OTL design, the caps and everything inside the amp is what drives the signature of the sound. I don't know about Little Dot or Mingda as I don't have a personal experience with it, but for future upgradeability and ease of mind, I'd go with Woo which is based on US and reputable with large user base.
