Ordered a set on Tuesday called today only to find they are not in stock yet. Says any day now, I really wish stores wouldn't do this. If not in stock then don't have the "add to cart" working.

I agree.

Moreover, as advancements in technology make it easier to do so,
I see more and more places indicating right on the listing if the item
is in stock - and often, how many pieces are in stock.

And it would not be unreasonable to request an immediate refund
if that's what you wish to do.
