Did you hear about the new SACDs? Quad layered, dual sided 5.1 sound complete with gratuitous water marks.

How is the Szell Wagner SACD? I'm thinking of getting this one, and I'm curious how this 40(?) year old recording sounds.

Thanks!

Holy Zoo,

Sorry for the delayed response, but I just picked that one up from the post office today. I'm actually listening to it as I type this, and so far so very good. The performance is excellent, and the recording sounds quite impressive, especially considering its age. Actually, I find some of the older, well-recorded albums out there to be some of my favorites.

Thanks Jude!

I just ordered a Szell sacd over the weekend... (Rossini, Auber, Berlioz). I'll let you know how it sounds.

Oh - and I hear ya about older recordings. I grew up listening to my dad's classical and jazz (mostly big band) LP collection, and there's nothing like those early stereo recordings that were done to analog tape. Yummy!
