hi i recently aquired the sony s71 silicon ear inserts and it is infinetly times better than the ones that came with the shures.

the only question I have now is how long was the canal for the headphones designed for?

are the tips of the silicon supposed to line up with the aperature of the canal? or is it supposed to overlap...

if anyone is confused by my wording i can provide pictures.

i have cut different lengths of sleeving from the original silicon thingys so I can basically make the canals any length i want.

i just wanted to know what is optimal for the best sound reproduction OR what it was designed for.

just experimenting with the silicon inserts i think when the canal is longer the bass is more prominent.

anyone have any experience with this? i know lots of you have done the s71 silcon insert mod.
