no, not unless your amp has a DAC, like the aos pace or the grace 901. you will need to feed the digital signal to some external DAC and then on to your amp.

You're referring to an optical line out on a Sony? If so, (if it's the white one), then it also outputs an analog signal, an easy way to test this is just to plug some headphones in, if you hear something it can output analog.

Yep, refering to the white one on the Aiwa zx-v1 pcdp and just trying to check whether the analog signal is bypass from the in built amp.
