The optical drive on my Mac Book Pro is dead

I am going to encode about 750 cd's from my collection, so I'm in the market for an external drive.  I don't need to rip Blu-Ray.  Are there any particular specs I should look for would make for either better or easier encoding?

I am considering this one and wondering if it seems like a decent purchase?

I really doubt you will see any benefit for using USB 3.0, over USB 2.0.
