Hi Guy’s

I thought I’d share some thoughts on the newly established Opal Audio AM7.

I’m not a professional or really someone who writes reviews regular so please bear that in mind when reading. I will try and add some pictures of the headphones plus any accessories they came with.

That said please feel free to ask questions and I’ll do my best to answer them.

The AM7 is an open-back headphone with a high sensitivity 40mm dynamic driver.

Tech specs
Frequency range: 16 - 24,000 Hz
Impedance: 32 Ω
Sensitivity: 113dBSPL
Weight: 390g ± 5g

Accessories
Bag
Sliver braided cable (good quality)
Two sets of pads both Dekoni (velour and sheepskin)

Build
Love the thick leather headband and the comfort strap is a nice addition.
Lovely wooden cups
Easy to adjust.

Sound

First off they are very easy to drive I have them paired with a Matrix Element M and it drives them effortlessly

It is designed to have an expansive sound-stage, instrument separation, and clarity

comparisons have been made against Sennheiser HD800, Sennheiser HD650, ZMF Verite, and Audio-Technica AD900x.

People have praised them on the upper-mids and treble as being 'crisp' and not harsh. Bass response is good not too heavy and overpowering.

In my option I was very happy with the sound crisps highs good treble and punchy bass.

They retail for around £600 uk and in my option they’re worth every penny

You won't be disappointed mate.
I received them a few days ago—they’re beautiful! The sound is excellent, and the build quality… my god, I love it. They feel incredibly solid. The clamp is a bit strong at first, but it becomes less noticeable with use. They’re also great for long listening sessions. They've replaced my Para's as my daily drivers. Oliver did an amazing job making these—really hope more people get to experience them. Too bad I don't know how to post pictures here :P

Has anyone with this Headphones tried them on a balanced amp and cable yet and if so what are your findings?

In an initial review video I notice user only uses the 6.35mm jack, and the information card that comes with the headphones mentions that the cable will make the left and right channels separate, but I'm curious to know if they are able to be run on a balanced setup?

Thanks in advanced

I'm currently waiting for a custom balanced cable from hart-audio when it arrives I will test it and share my opinion.

Can you post the link to the cable you bought please?
You’ll need to make a custom request and specify that you want either a balanced 4.4mm or XLR connector—or their modular cable system. Make sure to include details like the braiding type (mine is the more expensive round braid; twisted braid is about half the price), as well as the color or pattern.

Also, be sure to mention that the headphone side needs to be a double-terminated 3.5mm TRS cable, with(you can post in request the official site link):

Left channel wired to the tip

Right channel to the ring

Common/ground to the sleeve

They referred to the BRA-HC-9: Custom Braided Dual 3.5mm TRS Balanced Headphone Cable as a base model and CST-HC-9: Custom Dual 3.5mm TRS Balanced Headphone Cable for Hifiman, Focal, Meze 109 Pro, Meze Liric so you'd want to ask if you can ask hart if they will be compatible.

Honestly, I’ve never had TRS-terminated headphones before, so their choice to go with that kind of connection instead of a standard 3.5mm TS is a bit questionable—but hey, it’s a small minus in a sea of positives, so I’ll let that one slide.

PS:if you will also go custom I would recommend this color:
