I am about to upgrade my old and true ONIX XCD-88 CD player, which is similar to the Music Hall CD player of a few years back.  The unit is playing strong, although it may not be current any longer, but I love it and thought to refresh its sound I would upgrade the OP Amps.  A number of years ago people were using Brown Dog Single to Double Op Amp adapters and installing Texas Instrument OPA627AP OP Amps in them. (2) Adapters and (4) Op Amps.  Is this still relevant or is there a newer and nicer sounding Op Amp upgrade?  Lastly, if I have only soldered a few times, is this something a novice could attempt? All advice welcome.

You might want to practice a bit before you try
with good op amps and brown dog adapters.
It's really not very hard, but the brown dog can
seem a bit small.

Maybe watch the videos here.
