Anyone replace the op-amps in a Shanling CD-s100 mkII ? I know it uses the OPA 604s which I want to upgrade to the OPA627s but I figure it will probably require a PCB board, anyone know of which one to use?

On the Shanling CD S100 MK II there are four OPA604AP's in the IV section. These can be replaced by either OPA627AP's or BP's 8 pin DIP op amps and are a direct replacement.

The filter section uses a single OPA2604AP (8 pin DIP) dual op amp so you need an adapter to combine two OPA627's to match the required 8 pin DIP configuration. I used a prebuilt adapter from Parts Connexions which uses two OPA627AU surface mounts to convert to the 8 pin DIP configuration. There may also be an adapter that will convert two 8 pin DIP op amps to a single 8 pin DIP setup but I haven't looked into these???

Hope this helps ... Gord SW Ont.

Thanks for the informative posts, especially Gord! I know the mkII is kindof a sleeper so its nice to know that someone else has experimented with it. Do you happen to know the part # at partsexpress for the adapter you used? Would the adapter that rsaavedr recommended work in this application?

Sorry to be so late answering your question but I've been on the road and just got in.

Try the following link:

http://partsconnexion.com/catalog/semiconductors.html

... go to the "Op amps" tab and it's item "OPAMP- 64358 Dual-to-Single OPA627AU adaptor PCB assembly $49.95". It includes two 627's already installed on the adapter. BTW that's not a bad price as not too long ago this same adapter was $75 each (some modders still sell them for considerably more).

Don't know what adapter rsaavedr is using (sorry).

Hope this helps.

Happy headphone listening ... Gord SW Ont.

P.S. FYI the original Shanling CD S100 (same as MH CD25) has a different setup ... it has two OPA2604Ap dual 8 pin DIP op amps which requires two adapters each equipped with two OPA627's.

I assembled my DIY single to dual apaptor last night. I'm not sure if it's designed correctly.

I made the larger version bacause the smaller requires one jumper and you have to cut off a few unused pins.

In the larger adaptor there is room for caps in the middle. In LC Audio AD8065 module there are two caps in series between Vin+ and Vin-. I'm not sure if I should use similar configuration with AD627. Data sheet doesn't help much. Maybe some of you can?

boodi, I'm not familiar with your player but I had some good results with damping the enclosure of my sony dvp ns900 player. This might help you get started with non-electrical tweaking:

Changing the OPA in output stage is very easy. You just have to desolder the old opa and replace it with a socket. After that you can easily change the opa if you like.
