Always wondered what the result of changing op amps in a CD player versus the headphone amplifier is?

Especially interested in how the selection in one might affect the other. For example, what if someone liked a particular AD op amp in their amplifier but had a BB in their CD player ... how exactly would it affect the end result? There's so many posts about rolling op amps but usually the type used in the source is never mentioned. Should one consider both?

Opinions anyone???

Ops amps serve all different purposes, you can take a look at the data sheet for any specific op amp at www.newarkinone.com and it will say what the chip was designed for and what devices its best suited for.

Rolling op-amps in your source can make as much difference as in your amp. Modders almost always replace the op-amps when they mod a source, if they don't replace the analog section entirely.

Thx Wodgy ... that's what I'm figuring too.

That "could" mean that some pretty complex relationships exist based on the types of op amp (AD, BB, etc) in both the source and amp (or sources and amps for the lucky ones

).

It sure doesn't make decisions on what type of op amps to use any easier.
