Hows the bass on this thing? Was thinking on picking up one but I reading over the interwebs that some are calling it bass- heavy some are saying not so much and one where theyre comparing to to the Sony Mdr1r (Ive never heard these but I think I read they were good bass headphones). I was looking for a portable upgrade to my full bass modded HD439's,

The Sony MDR-R1 is in no way a bass headphone. It's what most people would call mid-centric. In some ways it's quite neutral. Less bass than a stock HD439
 
The Onkyo FC300 is a bass heavy headphone. It has a thick lush and forward bass presentation. I didn't like it so much, but a basshead might approve. Great looks though.
