Hey guys I have narrowed my research into portable players into two TOTL DAPs. Which one, in your opinion, has the best sound quality? The Onkyo DP-X1 or the Sony Walkman ZX2? Or should I just settle on the LG V10 smartphone for convenience sake since I heard it has a pretty good DAC? Thanks.

I've seen a few direct comparisons of the sony and onkyo on the respective fanthreads and maybe on currawong's dap-off thread too. Try searching head-fi through google if thread search gives you too much crap.

Different people prefer different things.

(more seriously: I haven't used any of these. RMAA of balanced mode DP-X1. RMAA of ZX2, SE mode. If you don't mind using a phone and consider that convenient, v10 seems well regarded... if you don't mind carrying a lumpy extra dac/amp for 'TOTL' performance, maybe consider just getting a Mojo for your current phone or v10)
